Jim- I didn't know about the '64 website so it
was great seeing everything that has been posted on there. The
pictures from the '74 reunion are from my mom's house in Alexandria
VA where we had part of the reunion - that was the last time we saw
John Cobb also. John Andrews and I put that together and its the
last one Bill and I have been too. We will try to come next year
but I don't know where all these old people have come from! Thanks
for letting me know. --

Australia Adventure
Australia.
I’ve wanted to go there for 30 years!
When I was on the faculty of Auburn University
in the early 1970’s, Australia was looking for young people to come teach
for two years, and perhaps at the end of that stint, to consider staying.
Even back then, there was magical allure to
that far off land.
Though my life took other turns, I never let go
of the dream to visit Australia.
Now
I’ve reached a time in life where I have the wealth and vision to make my
dream come true. With
the help of a travel consultant in Australia, I planned a trip to meet some
very specific goals: experience diversity in the people, culture, and
landscape of Australia, travel the country by train, taste many different
Australian wines, touch three oceans, go to Perth in addition to the
traditional destinations, explore Buddhist communities, visit friends in
Brisbane, and seriously try to
slow down.
But
what actually happened was not a dream.
My six weeks last February and March were full
of vivid, open, mindful moments. Because there are only 20 million people in
Australia, there is much less ambient pollution, so vistas are far and
clear.
Sometimes landscape views were breathtaking: sparkling
cities, fertile highlands, great farms and ranches, rain forests, vineyard
valleys, red-sand deserts, blue-green oceans, banana and sugar plantations,
gigantic open mines, salt flats, brilliant night skies, and very different
wildlife.
And I met friendly, relaxed people everywhere I went,
from bustling Sydney, to tiny Esperance on the Southern Ocean, from laconic
Alice Springs to lush Brisbane.
It
took me three weeks to “seriously slow down”!
That was one of the greatest gifts I received
from the trip.
Sure, I’m back at work and thinks are speeding
up.
But I have a mental and a cellular memory of living
life at a pace that I found, quite frankly, generative.
With greater attention to work/life balance
going forward, I know I can keep those mental and cellular memories alive at
work, at home, and as I welcome whatever future awaits me.

subject: WHS - In Memory of Mike Sinclair
It is with great sadness that I pass on the
news that our friend and classmate, Mike Sinclair died this morning.
A true Warrior- he will be missed
Below is the posting from his family
FRIDAY, MAY 09, 2008 08:33 AM, CDT
Revelation 21:4 “and He shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and
there shall no longer be any death; there shall no longer be any mourning,
or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.”
It is with great sadness and peaceful joy that I write to tell you that Dad
went home to be with his Lord and Savior early this morning. “Truly, truly,
I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has
eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death
into life.” John 5:24.
Dad’s breathing became very labored yesterday afternoon and we put him on
oxygen to aid his breathing. Hospice was very supportive and quick to help
us make him as comfortable as possible. Mom, all of the kids, and Ross and
Grant’s wives were here last night to support Dad and urge him to let go. We
cried, prayed, talked to him, held him, laughed a bit, and supported him in
his last hours. We all trickled to bed about midnight scattered throughout
the beds and couches in the house. Throughout the early morning hours we
each came and stayed with Dad a bit more. His breathing had calmed and
slowed, and at approximately 4 am Dad passed away. We gathered around his
bed again and thanked the Lord for giving him complete peace.
Again, we saw the hand of the Lord in the details of this morning. Not only
were we all together for the night, but the kids sleep was not interrupted
with the lights or noise, nor with the arrival of the hospice nurse to
pronounce him or with the removal of the body. The process was quick and
courteous, showing the utmost respect for Dad. Meila, Ross, and Grant were
able to go back to bed to get some much needed rest. The Lord is so good!
“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is so good; His mercy endures forever!”
Psalm 136:1.
Please pray for Mom right now, for the rest of the family, and for the
friends who are affected by this as well. I want you to know that Mom and
Dad had a sweet conversation a few weeks back. Dad, the man of few words,
told Mom he was confident in his life in Christ and that he knew he would be
in heaven with Jesus for eternity. His greatest desire is for each of you to
know that the Lord loves you too and wants nothing more than for you to
accept Jesus as your personal Savior and spend eternity in Heaven. “For God
so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes
in Him should not perish, but have eternal life” John 3:16. If this is new
news to you, Dad encourages you to further investigate the truth. If you
have questions you may call the pastor of his church, who also happens to be
a cowboy, or search out another believer whom you trust. Dad’s pastor is
Mark Harris, (aka. Parson) and can be reached at 520-400-3883.
Thank you for your continued support and prayer in this battle Dad has just
won. There is now no more pain, or sorrow, or sadness, only happiness,
praise and worship as he sits at the feet of the Lord. Those of us left here
on earth can grieve with the hope of seeing our father, husband, Opa, and
friend again in heaven. Again, in lieu of flowers please make a donation to
either SASS or the VVA. The information is listed in the previous journal
update from May 7. I will update again with information of the memorial
service, which won’t be for a few weeks.
May God bless you today, may you feel his love and peace, as we do now.

In Mikes Memory we are asking that you join our class in making a donation
to the Vietnam Veterans of Ameria. You can either follow the link below and
make a donation on line or send a check to Kay Moffat Rhoney and she will
make a class donation.
If you do it on line, please notify me (Sandy705@wideopenwest.com) and I
will keep track of the names so we can add them to a card that will be sent
later to the family to notify them of the donations. The on line link does
not allow the donation to be made in a specific name. A card is being sent
on behalf of our class to Mike's family now also.

Dear Jim,
Received your email to Blake and me, then checked out the website. You've
done a great job...what a "blast from the past"! Sad to see who we've
lost...knew about Mike Biscayart. of course, but not the others.
Hope you'll add me to the list of those "found"; I look forward to hearing
about up-coming events, etc.
Fondly,
